Man United ready to beat Chelsea with £100m bid for top striker – report
Manchester United are ready to beat Chelsea to the signature of Romelu Lukaku with a £100m bid, according to reports
Manchester United are set to make a £100m bid for Romelu Lukaku to try and beat Chelsea to the signature of the Everton striker, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Manchester United are set to “hijack” Chelsea’s move for the 24-year-old striker and bring him to Old Trafford this summer.
The same report claims that the Red Devils are “sensationally” closing in on a world-record £100m transfer deal for the Belgian forward, because Chelsea and Everton have so far failed to agree on a fee.
The story also states that with Lukaku set to head to Old Trafford, Everton are hoping to be able to thrash out a deal to bring striker Wayne Rooney back to the club.
The article says that Lukaku was widely expected to go back to Chelsea this summer three years after he was sold to Everton by the Blues.
But it seems that Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is now determined to bring the 24-year-old forward to Old Trafford to bolster his attacking options.
Manchester United have so far only confirmed the signing of defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica so far this summer.
