Man United’s £50m deal to sign top 28-year-old held up – report
Manchester United's £50m transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United is being held up by disagreements about bonus payments, say reports
Nemanja Matic’s £50m transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United is being helped up by disagreements about bonus payments, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the Red Devils are closing in on the signing of the 28-year-old midfielder as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
The same report says that a deal is close but that the transfer will not go through until both clubs can agree on extra payments Manchester United will make to Chelsea as part of the move.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to sign Matic in recent months and the Serbian’s future at Chelsea has been cast further into doubt after the Blues signed Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Mourinho knows Matic well from their time together at Chelsea, with the Serb having helped the Blues win the Premier League and League Cup in the 2014-15 season.
The Portuguese coach will be hoping to lead Manchester United to their first Premier League title next season since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term.
