Man United join race to sign top 24-year-old from PSG – report
Manchester United have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Marco Verratti from PSG, according to reports
Manchester United have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that Verratti has just appointed superagent Mino Raiola as his representative and that could help the Red Devils.
Raiola is said to be known for his links to Manchester United and orchestrated the moves of Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford last summer.
The outspoken agent also helped to secure Romelu Lukaku’s £75m switch to the 20-time English champions from Everton earlier this month.
It is being suggested that Raiola’s appointment could therefore hand Manchester United the edge in the race to sign the 24-year-old Italy star from PSG this summer.
However, the same report states that Barcelona remain as the favourites to sign Verratti this summer as his future at PSG remains in doubt.
Manchester United confirmed their second signing of the summer last week when they wrapped up a deal to land striker Lukaku from Everton.
The Red Devils have also signed defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica as they prepare for a return to the Champions League next season.
