Man United star keen to sign new deal with Red Devils – report
Juan Mata is keen to sign a new contract with Manchester United, according to reports
Juan Mata has his sights set on signing a new contract with Manchester United, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the Spanish playmaker is keen to commit his future to the Old Trafford outfit as he looks to extend his stay at the club.
The 29-year-old’s current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2018 and the player is keen to get his future resolved.
Mata played a key role in helping Manchester United secure Champions League qualification in Jose Mourinho’s first campaign at Old Trafford last season.
Despite Mata’s desire to sign a new contract, the story in the Sun says that Manchester United are “relaxed” about his situation because they have the option to extend his deal for a further year until 2019.
The same article claims that the playmaker currently earns wages of around £170,000 a week at Old Trafford, but he will be likely to want a pay-rise as he eyes what looks set to be the final big contract of his career.
Manchester United finished fifth in the Premier League table last season following Mourinho’s appointment in the summer of 2016.
