Manchester United will only have a shot at signing Gareth Bale if Real Madrid complete a deal for Kylian Mbappe this summer, according to reports.

The Independent is reporting that the Red Devils are interested in signing the Wales international in the current transfer window.

The same article states that claims that some sources close to the situation believe Real Madrid might sell Bale to raise transfer funds to get a deal for Mbappe over the line.

However, the same story admits that other contacts have rubbished the suggestion that los Blancos don’t have the cash to sign Monaco’s teenage sensation this summer.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Bale has regularly been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent seasons but a deal has failed to materialise so far.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho ruled out the Red Devils signing the 28-year-old attacker at the weekend ahead of their pre-season clash against Real Madrid in Santa Clara.

The 20-time English champions have signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window so far.
