Manchester United are in the right moment to bring Gareth Bale to Old Trafford from Real Madrid, according to Stewart Robson.

The Wales international’s future has been a source of debate in recent days amid talk of Real Madrid signing AS Monaco teenager Kylian Mbappe in a world-record £160m deal.

Bale struggled with injury last term and was a second-half substitute in Real Madrid’s 4-1 win against Juventus in the Champions League final in Cardiff.

The 28-year-old has won three Champions League titles, La Liga and the Copa del Rey since his £85.3m move to The Bernabeu from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.

Manchester United rivalled los Blancos for the winger’s signature but the Wales star opted to complete a move to the Spanish capital.

However, the Red Devils have been regularly linked with a move to bring Bale back to the Premier League over the past four seasons.

Former Arsenal striker Robson believes the time is now right for Manchester United to try and force a move to sign Bale.

“Bale’s time is going to be limited at Real Madrid, so it’s the right time for Manchester United to go and get him,” Robson told ESPN FC on Wednesday.

Manchester United have signed Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window so far as Mourinho looks to build on their EFL Cup and Europa League success last term.
