Manchester United are prepared to fend off interest from Inter Milan in France forward Anthony Martial, according to Bryan Swanson.

The Sky Sports News reporter has taken to Twitter to shed light on Martial’s current situation at Old Trafford ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League season.

The France international struggled to make an impression under Jose Mourinho in the manager’s first season in charge of the 13-time Premie League winners.

Indeed, Martial started 14 games and made a further seven appearances from the bench as the 21-year-old ended up with four goals and six assists.

The £36m signing was a revelation in his debut season at Old Trafford as Martial scored 11 times in 49 games in all competitions under Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal.

The Manchester United boss is thought to be eager to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, while the Serie A giants have an interest in Martial this summer.

However, Sky Sports News reporter Swanson quoted reports in Italy that claim Manchester United are reluctant to allow Martial to move to the Italian club.

Swanson wrote on his Twitter page: “Sky in Italy: Inter Milan remain interested in Anthony Martial but Manchester United don’t want to sell. #mufc #SSNHQ”
