Insider: Man United must bid £50m for rivals to consider selling key star
Manchester United need to make an offer in the region of £50m to make Spurs think about selling Eric Dier, according to Kaveh Solhekol
Manchester United would have to make an offer in the region of £50m to make Tottenham Hotspur think about selling Eric Dier, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
Reports in the British media suggest the north London side aren’t open to selling the England international in the summer transfer window.
Dier was a vital part of Tottenham’s team last season as Spurs challenged Chelsea for the Premier League title despite eventually falling short.
Manchester United are thought to be keen on signing on a defensive midfielder this summer to become Michael Carrick’s long-term successor at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho has been linked with a move to sign Dier, Monaco midfielder Fabinho and Chelsea star Nemanja Matic this summer so far.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol claimed that an offer in excess of £50m would make Tottenham reconsider their stance on Dier.
“United are also definitely after Eric Dier from Spurs,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday morning.
“He’s one of their two main midfield targets. Dier has four years left on his contract and it’s notoriously difficult to buy players from Tottenham.
“They don’t want to sell and it’s thought that only an offer of more than £50m would make them think again.”
Manchester United started their summer spending spree with the £30.7m addition of Victor Lindelof to their squad from Portuguese champions Benfica.
The Red Devils added Belgium international Romelu Lukaku to their squad in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton.
