Manager responds to reports Man United want to sign 23-year-old star
Mauricio Pochettino rubbishes reports linking Manchester United with a move to sign Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino believes it is a good thing Tottenham Hotspur’s players are attracting interest from top clubs this summer.
Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign England and Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier over the past month or so.
However, Tottenham have reportedly rejected a number of bids from Manchester United for the 23-year-old ahead of the 2017-18 season.
Dier has become an important member of the Spurs team under Pochettino given his ability to play at centre-half or as a holding midfielder.
The Spurs star scored two goals in 36 appearances in the Premier League last season as Tottenham finish in second place and seven points behind champions Chelsea.
However, Tottenham manager Pochettino moved to reassure concerned Spurs supporters not to be concerned by the transfer speculation.
“That is a good signal for us, that other clubs are talking about our players. It means we have good players. But it’s rumours,” Pochettino said at his media conference on Friday.
Dier moved to Tottenham from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in £4m transfer in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The England midfielder has netted eight times in 135 appearances in all competitions.
