Manager responds to reports linking key star with Man United transfer
Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti is set to hold talks with Manchester United target Ivan Perisic
Luciano Spalletti says he is planning to hold talks with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic about his future at San Siro.
The Croatia international has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Perisic is thought to have already agreed terms with the Red Devils but the two clubs have failed to agree on a transfer fee.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is thought to have made signing the 28-year-old one of his top priorities this summer.
However, Inter’s new boss Spalletti has already expressed his desire to keep the experienced Croatia international at the Italian giants.
Now, the former AS Roma coach has revealed that he will sit down with Perisic to discuss the attacking midfielder’s plans.
“I will speak to everyone and clearly for those who are ‘distracted’ there will be different words,” Spalletti is quoted as saying by Daily Express.
“I will listen to him, I have no doubts. I am counting on him, but we’ll have to understand his intentions.
It would not be nice for me to hear him say words like: ‘I want to leave’. We’ll see. You keep talking about Perisic and his desire to leave, but first I need to listen to his own words and then we’ll decide how to act.
“In any case, I will say this: We are Inter and we can opt to make different decisions compared to ideas of the players. I hope to have him in the side, I am counting on it and I am positive in that sense.”
Manchester United agreed a £75m deal with Everton to sign Belgium international Romelu Lukaku at the weekend.
The Red Devils have already recruited Sweden international Victor Lindelof in a £30.7m deal from Portuguese champions Benfica this summer.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but won the EFL Cup and the Europa League.
