Journalist names factor potentially key to Man United signing top 24-year-old star
Kaveh Solhekol suggests Marco Verratti's new agent Mino Raiola could hold the key to a move to Manchester United this summer
Marco Verratti’s decision to hire Mino Raiola as his new agent could signal a move to Manchester United is on the cards, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Italy international has emerged as a surprise target for Manchester United in recent days amid uncertainty surrounding his future at Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is rumoured to be growing impatient in their pursuit of defensive midfielder despite being linked with Chelsea star Nemanja Matic and Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier.
According to reports in the English media on Sunday, Manchester United are considering a £70m bid to sign the PSG midfielder but the Ligue 1 side are keen on a swap deal involving Anthony Martial.
Verratti sacked his representatives earlier this summer and hired Raiola, who is already the agent for Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Indeed, the outspoken football representative helped to mastermind a £75m move that saw his client Romelu Lukaku swap Everton for Manchester United earlier this month.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol suggested that Raiola’s appointment as Verratti’s new agent could be significant in terms of a potential transfer to Manchester United.
“What about another linked player, Marco Verratti? Our information is that he was not on the list of midfield targets Manchester United were looking at this summer. That situation could have changed now,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Monday morning.
“Could it be significant that Verratti switched agents and signed up with Mino Raiola last week. He’s the man who brought Pogba, Zlatan, Mkhitaryan and Lukaku to United.”
