Insider reveals Man United not leading race to sign 28-year-old star from rivals
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol claims Juventus are more interested than Man United in Chelsea star Nemanja Matic
Manchester United are behind Juventus in the race to sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Premier League champions are thought to be ready to sell the Serbia international in the summer transfer window as Antonio Conte continues to overhaul his squad.
Chelsea signed AS Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko in a big-money deal to bolster their midfield options and push Matic down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United were rumoured to be keen on signing the Serbia international given his history with Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho.
Indeed, the 20-time English champions are in the market to sign a defensive midfielder to provide Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini with competition.
However, Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol has revealed that Serie A giants Juventus are showing more of an interest in the defensive midfielder than Manchester United right now.
“Another player Manchester United are being linked with is Nemanja Matic,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Monday morning.
“He’s available and Chelsea are willing to sell him to Manchester United, but we’re told clubs in Italy like Juventus want him more than United at the moment.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare in Conte’s first season in charge of the west London club.
Manchester United finished in sixth place but lifted the EFL Cup and the Europa League.
