Insider claims Chelsea ‘reluctant’ to sell top Premier League star to Man United
Sky Sports News reporter Aidan Magee reveals Chelsea are hesitant about selling Nemanja Matic to Manchester United
Chelsea are “reluctant” to sell Nemanja Matic to Manchester United this summer, according to Sky Sports News’ Aidan Magee.
Manchester United have been linked with an audacious swoop to sign Serbia international Nemanja Matic this summer despite the defensive midfielder being a first-team regular under Antonio Conte last term.
Indeed, the Premier League champions were left frustrated earlier this week after Manchester United managed to hijack their bid to sign Belgium international Romelu Lukaku from rivals Everton.
The 24-year-old was reported to be Conte’s top target this summer but Manchester United agreed a £75m fee with the Toffees to make the centre-forward their second most-expensive signing.
Understandably, Chelsea could be loathe to sell Manchester United a player capable of having a significant impact at Old Trafford given the addition of Belgium international Lukaku.
Sky Sports News reporter Magee has provided Manchester United supporters with an update on the Red Devils’ bid to improve their midfield options in the summer transfer window.
“Nemanja Matic is still an option for Manchester United are considering but Chelsea are expected to be reluctant to let him leave for Old Trafford after what happened with Romelu Lukaku this week,” Magee told Sky Sports News HQ on Thursday morning.
Mourinho signed Matic in a £21m deal from Portuguese champions Benfica during his second spell at the London club.
