Jose Mourinho told Man United need six summer signings
Shaka Hislop claims that Romelu Lukaku is only the second of six signings that Jose Mourinho needs to make this summer
Manchester United need a total of six signings in the summer transfer window, according to Shaka Hislop.
The Red Devils completed a £75m deal for Belgium international Romelu Lukaku earlier this week after the 24-year-old decided to move to Old Trafford from Everton ahead of a return to Chelsea.
Lukaku is Manchester United’s second signing of the summer transfer window after the Red Devils completed a £30.7m deal to sign Sweden international Victor Lindelof from Portuguese champions Benfica.
The 20-time English champions have been linked with a bid to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic and Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier over the past week.
AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho has also been linked with a move to Manchester United as Jose Mourinho looks to prepare his squad for a return to the Champions League.
Speaking to ESPN FC about Manchester United’s summer transfer activity, former Newcastle and West Ham goalkeeper Hislop warned Mourinho that he has only secured two of the six signings that the Red Devils boss needs to make this summer.
“Lukaku is only the second piece in a six-piece puzzle,” Hislop said.
“They’ve got Lindelof in but I don’t think he will change a whole lot. Lukaku is an important piece of the puzzle.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table in Mourinho’s first season in charge.
However, the Red Devils won the EFL Cup and the Europa League under the Portuguese coach.
