Dion Dublin has backed Romelu Lukaku to blossom into one of the best strikers in the world at Manchester United.

The Belgium international completed a move to the Red Devils in a £75m deal from Everton earlier this week despite being heavily tipped to secure a return to former club Chelsea.

Lukaku has taken on the responsibility of wearing the number nine shirt as the Belgian striker looks to fill the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the 35-year-old was released earlier this summer.

The former Anderlecht forward scored 25 times in 36 games in the Premier League last season – only Tottenham Hotspur’s prolific striker Harry Kane scored more times than Manchester United’s new signing.

Retired Manchester United striker Dublin is confident that Lukaku will thrive at Old Trafford despite concerns about the new signing’s big-game temperament.

“I think Mourinho will find a way to get the best out of Lukaku, as Lukaku is a very, very good centre-forward,” Dublin told talkSPORT on Wednesday morning.

“Supply him, and he will score goals.

“In a Man United shirt he’ll get more chances than at any other club in the Premier League, so now all he’s got to do is get his numbers up and he’ll be one of the best in the world.”

Lukaku moved to Everton in a £27m deal from Chelsea in 2014 after failing to secure a regular first-team place at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United have signed Lukaku and Sweden international Victor Lindelof in a £30.7m deal from Portuguese champions Benfica.
