This is why Arsenal don’t want to sell Alexis Sanchez this summer – report
Arsene Wenger doesn't want to sell Alexis Sanchez this summer because it would spark a backlash from Arsenal fans, say reports
Arsene Wenger doesn’t want to sell Alexis Sanchez this summer because he knows “full well” that it would cause a huge backlash from Arsenal fans, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is claiming that it is Wenger himself who is trying to block Sanchez’s proposed exit from The Emirates this summer.
However, the same report says that Manchester City are “desperate” to try and land the Chile international before the transfer window closes next Thursday.
But despite the speculation, the same story says that Pep Guardiola’s side have not yet made a formal bid for the attacker.
Sanchez’s future has been a relentless source of speculation throughout the summer transfer window as he continues to be linked with a possible move away from The Emirates.
The 28-year-old has less than a year remaining on his current contract with the north London club, meaning that he could leave on a free transfer next summer if he doesn’t pen a new deal.
Sanchez has missed both of Arsenal’s first two Premier League games of the season due to an abdominal injury, and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit for the trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
