Julian Draxler’s agent replies to Arsenal, Liverpool transfer reports
Julian Draxler's agent rules out leaving PSG despite reported interest from Arsenal and Liverpool this summer
Julian Draxler’s agent has ruled out the possibility of the Paris Saint-Germain forward leaving the Ligue 1 side in the summer transfer window.
The Germany international’s future at the Ligue 1 side has been cast in doubt following the arrival of Neymar in a world-record £198m deal from Barcelona earlier this month.
Draxler has fallen down the pecking order at the French club despite the promising German forward completing a £40m switch to Parc des Princes from Schalke 04 back in January.
Liverpool were linked with a last-ditch bid to sign Draxler earlier this year before the 23-year-old opted to move to PSG ahead of a switch to the Premier League.
Arsenal have been regularly named as a potential suitor for the PSG forward over the past few seasons but a deal has failed to materialise.
However, the Daily Mirror is reporting that both Arsenal and Liverpool are now interested in signing the want-away PSG striker.
And his agent Roger Wittmann has attempted to end the transfer speculation after confirming Draxler would not be leaving despite Neymar’s arrival.
“We are not interested in whether [French newspaper] L’Equipe wrote something,” Wittmann said to Sport 1 in Germany. “There has been no change, it is not a topic.
“If somebody writes ‘I have this information from [PSG chairman and CEO] Nasser Al-Khelaifi,’ then I will consider it and call the president to speak about Julian’s situation.
“Once again, though, this is not the case. So, everything has been said.”
Liverpool have only signed three players in the summer transfer window and have been left largely frustrated in their pursuit of big names such as Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk.
Arsene Wenger spent a club-record fee on Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and signed Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke 04.
