Arsenal will hold “crunch” talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain about his future this week, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail is claiming that the Gunners are set to open talks with the 24-year-old midfielder about his situation, because his current contract is due to expire at the end of this season.

The talks are scheduled to take place towards the end of this week, according to the story, in the build-up to Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The same report states that there is currently no agreement in place between Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arsenal to extend his current deal, a situation which has prompted speculation about his future.

The story says that Chelsea will be “hugely” interested in monitoring proceedings as the Blues are keen on luring the midfielder to Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, the same article claims that Chelsea have already had a bid of around £25m rejected by Arsenal for Oxlade-Chamberlain so far this summer.

However, Arsenal are determined to try and keep hold of the England international and Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he is not for sale this summer, according to the story.
