Jose Mourinho admits that he enjoyed watching Arsenal beat Leicester in the Premier League curtain-raiser
Jose Mourinho has admitted that he thoroughly enjoyed watching Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Leicester City last Friday night.
The Gunners kicked off the Premier League season in style by beating the Foxes in a thrilling clash at The Emirates.
Goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Danny Welbeck, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud clinched an entertaining 4-3 victory for the Gunners as they began their season with a win.
Mourinho then kept a close eye on the Saturday games before his own Manchester United side began the season with an impressive 4-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford, with striker Romelu Lukaku scoring twice.
And the Portuguese coach has lifted the lid on how he enjoyed watching Arsenal’s win over Leicester on Friday.
Mourinho told Sky Sports after Sunday’s victory for Manchester United: “I’m happy to start! We like to play, we like Premier League, we like the opening match. So let’s enjoy!
“Honestly, as a spectator and as a fan, I have enjoyed the Friday match, I have also enjoyed some Saturday matches that I had a chance to look.
“So hopefully today we can keep giving good football and entertaining times for the people who love football in this country.”
Arsenal now turn their attentions towards their Premier League trip to Stoke City on Saturday evening as they look to try and make it two wins in a row in the top flight.
The Gunners are aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2003-04, when Arsene Wenger oversaw a famous unbeaten triumph.
