The Arsenal legend is backing the Gunners to finish in the Premier League's top four this season
Martin Keown is backing Arsenal to reclaim a top-four spot in the Premier League this season.
The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
The north London side are facing the prospect of a first campaign in the Europa League following their disappointing domestic campaign.
Arsene Wenger signed Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in a club-record £52m deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon last month.
The Gunners boss also added Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 back in June.
Arsenal made a good start to the new season with a penalty shootout victory over Premier League champions Chelsea in the Community Shield.
They then beat Leicester City 4-3 in a thrilling Premier League opener at The Emirates on Friday night.
“The Europa League will be a massive burden but I can see Arsenal reclaiming a place in the top four,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when Keown was still part of Wenger’s squad.
Arsenal have never won the Champions League despite losing to La Liga giants Barcelona in the 2006 Champions League final.
The north London side ended a disappointing 2016-17 season on a positive note with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
