Stewart Robson has claimed that Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey embody the best and the worst of Arsenal under Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners were 4-3 winners against Leicester City in their opening Premier League game of the 2017-18 season thanks to late goals from Olivier Giroud and Ramsey at The Emirates.
Arsenal suffered a setback last weekend following a 1-0 loss to Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium following Jese Rodriguez’s second-half winner.
Ozil was heavily criticised for his below-par performance at Stoke as Arsenal lost ground on title rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.
Wales international Ramsey struggled to have an influence on the Premier League clash like Ozil as the pair received plenty of criticism on social media.
Former Arsenal striker Robson was critical of Ozil and Ramsey ahead of the north London side’s trip to Liverpool in their next Premier League game at Anfield on Sunday.
“There are two players who sum up everything that is good about Arsenal and everything that is bad about Arsenal,” Robson told The Game podcast.
“Ramsey makes run after run into the box. He always looks like he might score. But when possession is given away, he will carrying on running and put his hands up.
“The game is won and lost when the ball changes hand. Arsenal are poor when the ball changes hands. Mesut Ozil is the same as Ramsey.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
The Gunners spent a club-record fee on Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette to bolster their squad.
