Arsene Wenger says he is convinced that Alexis Sanchez will give his all to help fire Arsenal to the Premier League title this season.

The 28-year-old’s future has been a relentless source of speculation this summer after both he and Mesut Ozil entered into the final 12 months of their contracts at The Emirates.

There doesn’t appear to be any progress in getting Sanchez to sign a new contract but Wenger has insisted that the Chile international will remain at the club for next season whether he pens a new deal or not.

Arsenal are currently preparing for their Community Shield showdown with Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday as they look to win the first trophy available to them this season.

And Wenger says that he has no doubts that Sanchez will give his all to help Arsenal try and win the Premier League this season.

Speaking at a news conference ahead of Sunday’s game, Wenger said: “Of course [Sanchez will give his all]. Why not?

“If you look at it, it’s always in your interests, even if you have a short contract, to do well. And the kind of character he is [also convinces me].

“He is a winner. When he goes on the football pitch, he wants to win.

It is not clear whether Sanchez could be involved against Chelsea on Sunday, with the Chilean only having recently returned to training with the north London side.

Sanchez has been linked with both Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.
