Steven Gerrard tells Arsenal to try and make two more signings before the close of the summer transfer window
Steven Gerrard has told Arsenal to try and make two more signings in key positions before the close of the summer transfer window at the end of the month.
The north London side have been relatively busy in the summer window so far and have been linked with a host of players.
However, Arsenal have so far only concluded deals to sign two new players – Sead Kolasinac from Schalke and Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
Arsenal continue to be linked with a number of players, with Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar regularly touted as a possible target for the north London side.
However, Gerrard feels that Arsenal are in need of reinforcements in two key positions ahead of the new campaign – in central midfield and central defence.
Speaking on BT Sport on Sunday, Gerrard said: “For me, Arsenal are still a bit short in terms of quality in midfield.
“I think they need a big player in there and a centre-half as well.”
Arsenal were in impressive form as they came from a goal down to beat Premier League champions Chelsea on penalties in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners, who finished fifth in the table last term, now turn their attentions towards their Premier League opener against Leicester City at The Emirates on Friday night.
