Steven Gerrard sends message to Arsenal supporters about Alexandre Lacazette
Steven Gerrard has been impressed by the start Alexandre Lacazette has made to his Arsenal career
Steven Gerrard has lavished praise on Alexandre Lacazette following his strong start to life at Arsenal.
The French striker became Arsenal’s second signing of the summer back in July when he signed for the Gunners from Lyon in a club-record transfer deal.
Lacazette has looked sharp for the Gunners and opened his Premier League account in the 4-3 win over Leicester City at The Emirates earlier this month.
The 26-year-old also had the ball in the back of the net during Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Stoke City on Saturday, only for the goal to be ruled out due to a marginal offside.
Lacazette looks as if he will not need too much time to adapt to the rigours of English football, and Liverpool legend Gerrard has been extremely impressed by what he has seen from the striker so far.
Speaking on BT Sport after Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Stoke, Gerrard said: “They’ve added Lacazette and he looks a real buy.
“They’ve spent a lot of money on him but I’ve watched him a bit this season and he started with a bang.
“His movement in the box is excellent and he only needs one chance to score a goal.”
Lacazette will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action next weekend with a crunch clash against Liverpool at Anfield.
The north London side are also preparing for Europa League football next month after they finished fifth last term.
