Steven Gerrard: My one concern about Arsenal this season
Steven Gerrard discusses Arsenal's start to the new season after their 4-3 win over Leicester City
Steven Gerrard has admitted that the main concern about Arsenal this season is whether their defence is good enough.
The Gunners kicked off their Premier League season in thrilling fashion when they secured a 4-3 victory over Leicester City at The Emirates last Friday night.
Arsenal earned plenty of praise for their attacking prowess during the game as Alexandre Lacazette, Danny Welbeck, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud all got amongst the goals.
However, there were familiar scenes of Arsenal failing to cope in defence as Leicester scored three times at The Emirates.
And although Gerrard is a big fan of Arsenal’s attacking play, the Liverpool legend admits that it remains to be seen whether the north London side can improve at the back this season.
Speaking on Premier League Tonight on BT Sport, Gerrard said: “They look really good going forward.
“The’ve got a plan A and a plan B and they’ve still got Alexis Sanchez to come back as well.
“The worry for Arsenal is, can they defend properly? They’ve got a couple of injuries in defence at the moment and you can see on set pieces there’s big problems for them.”
Arsenal are looking to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title this season after Arsene Wenger’s men finished in a disappointing fifth place last term.
The Gunners, who did win the FA Cup last term, have not lifted the Premier League trophy since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
