Arsenal no longer in talks about signing top 21-year-old – report
Arsenal have put talks to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco on hold, according to reports
Arsenal are no longer in “active” talks to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco this summer, according to reports in the British media.
Sky Sports is reporting that the Gunners are no longer in discussions with the Ligue 1 champions about the possibility of signing the 21-year-old midfielder this summer.
That’s because it’s claimed that the north London side will have to offload some players before bringing in any new faces this summer.
One of the players who could be on his way out of The Emirates this summer is Spanish striker Lucas Perez, who struggled for game-time in his first season at the club last term.
Arsenal have long been linked with a move to sign Lemar from Monaco, with the France international having been regularly touted as the Gunners’ top target this summer.
However, it appears that Arsenal will have to get rid of some players before they are able to fund a fresh approach for Lemar.
Arsenal are now preparing for their Premier League opener against Leicester City at The Emirates on Friday night as they look to kick off their season with three points.
The Gunners beat Chelsea on penalties to win the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
