Arsenal interested in signing top 26-year-old defender, claims journalist
Arsenal are interested in signing Virgil van Dijk and Thomas Lemar, according to journalist Jeremy Wilson

Arsenal are interested in signing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton this summer, according to journalist Jeremy Wilson.
The Gunners have been linked with a whole host of players this summer but have so far only tied up deals to sign Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac.
Arsenal have also been credited with a significant interest in Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, although Arsene Wenger described that deal as “dead” last week.
However, Daily Telegraph journalist Wilson has now claimed that Van Dijk is one of the Gunners’ top targets as Wenger looks to bolster his defensive options at The Emirates.
But it seems that the north London side could be prepared to bide their time in their bid to sign both players, according to Wilson.
Wilson wrote on Twitter: “No expectation of major Arsenal incomings. Sense they’d rather wait to see if Lemar/Van Dijk became feasible next year than go down list now.”
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will bring in any more new players before the close of the summer transfer window on Thursday night.
The Gunners are aiming to significantly improve their Premier League form this season after slumping to a disappointing fifth-placed finish last term and missing out on Champions League qualification.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
