Ray Parlour sends message to Arsenal about Alexis Sanchez’s future
The former Arsenal midfielder warns Arsene Wenger that the Gunners need to keep Alexis Sanchez to finish in the top four
Ray Parlour has warned Arsene Wenger that Arsenal need to keep their best players, including Alexis Sanchez, to finish in the top four.
The Gunners are facing an uncertain future with their prized asset after Sanchez entered the final 12 months of his current contract.
Arsenal have been unable to agree a contract extension with the 28-year-old amid interest from some of Europe’s top clubs in the Chile star.
The north London side are fending off interest from title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City in the South American forward in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal could lose the 28-year-old in a free transfer next summer if the Gunners decide to keep Sanchez for another season without reaching an agreement about a new deal.
Wenger’s side finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term but the north London club did win the FA Cup for the third time in four seasons.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour has sent a warning to Wenger about selling their key man in the current transfer window.
“If you want to get into the top four and challenge the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea you have to keep your best players,” Parlour told talkSPORT.
Sanchez scored 24 times in 37 games in the Premier League last season to finish behind Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku in the goal-scoring charts.
