Arsenal confident Alexis Sanchez won’t complete summer transfer, reveals insider
Arsenal are increasingly confident Alexis Sanchez won't leave the Gunners in the summer transfer window, according to Kaveh Solhekol
Arsenal are confident Alexis Sanchez will still be a Gunners player beyond the summer transfer window, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Gunners forward has been regularly linked with a summer move after failing to agree to a contract extension with the north London side.
Sanchez has entered the final 12 months of his current Arsenal contract to throw up the possibility of the South American leaving the FA Cup winners for nothing next summer.
Manchester City are rumoured to be interested in the Chile international as Pep Guardiola looks to reunite with the former Barcelona forward in the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old scored 24 times in 37 games in the Premier League last term to finish as Arsenal’s top goal-scorer in an otherwise difficult campaign.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol revealed that Manchester City haven’t launched a move to sign Sanchez and Arsenal are optimistic the South American will remain at The Emirates.
“Let’s start with Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal. Of course, this has been going on all summer,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Thursday morning.
“It’s been dominating Arsenal’s agenda. Will Alexis Sanchez still be an Arsenal player next Friday? Manchester City haven’t made their move yet.
“As far as Arsenal are concerned, Sanchez is not going anywhere, even though he only has one year left on his contract.”
Sanchez moved to Arsenal in a £35m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The north London side were without Sanchez for their 4-3 victory over Leicester City and 1-0 loss to Stoke City in their opening Premier League games of the 2017-18 campaign.
