Arsenal have to offload players before making third summer signing – report
Arsene Wenger will have to reduce his Arsenal squad size before signing Nice midfielder Jean Seri, according to reports in England
Arsenal won’t sign Nice midfielder Jean Seri unless Arsene Wenger is able to offload some players, according to reports in England.
The Guardian is reporting that the Gunners have made an approach to sign the 26-year-old African midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The same article states that Arsenal are interested in the box-to-box midfielder, who is rumoured to have a €40m (£34m) contract release clause.
The north London side, though, won’t make a concrete offer until Wenger can make room for the Ivory Coast international in his Gunners squad.
Seri has scored seven goals and has made nine assists in 34 appearances in Ligue 1 last season to help Nice to secure a spot in the Champions League.
Arsenal spent a club-record £52m fee on France international Alexandre Lacazette from Ligue 1 side Lyon.
The Gunners have also signed Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 back in June.
Arsenal were 4-3 winners against Leicester City in their first Premier League game of the 2017-18 season.
Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud scored late goals to overturn Leicester’s lead and secure three points for the north London club.
The Gunners will make the trip to Stoke City in their next Premier League game on Saturday.
