Raheem Sterling’s future at the Etihad Stadium hinges on how desperate Manchester City are to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the 22-year-old attacker could leave the Citizens if Sanchez completes a move to Manchester City before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The same article states that the Eastlands outfit are willing to use Sterling as a makeweight in a potential big-money deal for Arsenal’s Chile international.

The England international is thought to be open to a potential move to Arsenal despite completing a £51m transfer to Manchester City from Liverpool in 2015.

Pep Guardiola is reluctant to lose the forward which is hardly surprising given Sterling’s undoubted potential.

The Manchester City forward has scored in his last two Premier League games to secure four points for the Eastlands outfit.

Sanchez’s future has been a source of constant speculation throughout the summer transfer window after the Chile international entered the final 12 months of his Arsenal contract.

The Gunners lost 4-0 to Sterling’s former club Liverpool in their last Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Sterling was sent off for his celebrations after the winger scored Manchester City’s added-time winner in a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth last weekend.
