Antonio Conte was not at all happy with Cesc Fabregas after the midfielder's sending off for Chelsea against Burnley, say reports
Antonio Conte is “furious” with Cesc Fabregas after the Spanish midfielder was sent off during Chelsea’s shock 3-2 loss to Burnley on Saturday, according to reports in the British media.
The Times is reporting that the Chelsea manager was left dismayed by Fabregas’ dismissal after having warned his players about their discipline at half-time.
Chelsea were already down to 10 men and trailing during the game after Gary Cahill was show a straight red card early on at Stamford Bridge.
However, Chelsea were then reduced to nine men late on in west London after Fabregas received a second yellow card for a clumsy challenge on Jack Cork.
Fabregas seemed shocked to have been sent off but replays showed that the tackle was reckless and warranted a booking.
Chelsea will now be without both Fabregas and Cahill for their crunch trip to Wembley to take on Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
The 30-year-old midfielder will be hoping to feature for Chelsea more regularly this season after the sale of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United earlier this month.
The Blues are looking to challenge for trophies on four fronts this season after securing the Premier League title in Conte’s first season at the club last summer.
