Frank Lampard sends message to Chelsea fans about Nathaniel Chalobah
Frank Lampard has admitted his shock at seeing Chelsea opt to sell Nathaniel Chalobah to Watford this summer
Frank Lampard has told Chelsea that they’ve made a big mistake in letting Nathaniel Chalobah leave the club to join Watford this summer.
The 22-year-old had endured a long spell of loan spells at Stamford Bridge and never managed to establish himself as a regular in the first team at the west London club.
Chalobah was eventually sold to Watford on a five-year contract back in July after he was deemed to be surplus to requirements by the Blues.
However, Chelsea legend Lampard feels that the Blues have made a significant error of judgement by letting the midfielder leave the club on a permanent deal this summer.
Speaking on Premier League Tonight on BT Sport, former Chelsea midfielder Lampard said: “Losing Nathaniel Chalobah was a mistake.
“I don’t quite know how it happened, and [he was sold] for quite a low price as well.”
Chelsea suffered a shock 3-2 defeat by Burnley at Stamford Bridge in their first Premier League game of the season on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues will now look to bounce back to winning ways when they travel to Wembley to take on Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
Chelsea have signed four players so far this summer, after having tied up deals for Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.
