Chelsea make £35m bid to make exciting 23-year-old their fifth signing – report
Chelsea have upped their offer to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal this summer, according to reports
Chelsea have raised their bid for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to £35m, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that Chelsea are ready to test Arsenal’s “resolve” with a big-money bid for the 23-year-old England international, who has just one year left on his contract.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of different players this summer but have so far only concluded deals to sign Willy Caballero, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Alvaro Morata.
The Blues are still believed to be on the hunt for a number of new players this summer, and the Daily Star is reporting that Chelsea boss Conte is a huge admirer of Arsenal star Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The same story says that the player himself is “attracted” by the idea of moving to Chelsea this summer, because he would be able to play Champions League football and earn the sort of money that Arsenal were not willing to offer him.
The article says that Chelsea initially offered a bid of £25m, but have since upped their offer to £35m to see if they can tempt Arsenal into selling the midfielder.
Oxlade-Chamberlain could feature for Arsenal when the Gunners take on Leicester City in their Premier League opener on Friday night.
