Chelsea, Man United ‘definitely interested’ in proven 27-year-old defender, claims insider
Daily Telegraph reporter Jason Burt confirms Chelsea and Manchester United want to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose
Chelsea and Manchester United are “definitely” interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose, according to Jason Burt.
The England international has been linked with a potential move in the summer transfer window despite Tottenham’s impressive performances over the past two seasons.
Rose’s team-mate Kyle Walker secured a significant pay rise after the right-back became the world’s most-expensive defender following a £52m switch to Manchester City earlier this summer.
The former Sunderland defender suggested that he wants to secure a more lucrative contract at the north London club or one of the title rivals in a controversial interview earlier this month.
Chelsea are thought to be keen on signing the Tottenham full-back before transfer deadline day as Antonio Conte looks to improve his left-back options.
Manchester United have also been linked with a move to sign a defender in the current transfer window given Luke Shaw’s well-documented struggles.
Daily Telegraph reporter Burt has confirmed that Chelsea and Manchester United want to sign the England defender Rose before the close of the summer transfer window.
“Manchester United and Chelsea are both definitely interested,” Burt told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Danny Rose was aware of that when he spoke last week. He knows there is interest in him.
“He didn’t just speak to discuss about getting more money from Tottenham.
“He was putting it out there that he knew there is interest without naming the clubs.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season in Conte’s first season in charge.
Manchester United ended up in sixth spot in the Premier League table.
