Chelsea to increase their bid to sign 24-year-old to £40m – report
Chelsea are set to up their bid to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal to £40m, say reports
Chelsea are set to increase their bid to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal to £40m as they attempt to push through a deal, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is claiming that the Blues are set to up their offer for the 24-year-old midfielder after having failed to convince the Gunners to sell him so far this summer.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose current contract at Arsenal is due to expire at the end of next season.
The same article states that Chelsea have already had a £35m bid for Oxlade-Chamberlain rejected by Arsenal but that the Blues are now planning to up their bid.
It remains to be seen whether an increased bid would be enough to convince Arsenal to sell the midfielder to a direct rival this summer.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for a number of reinforcements before the close of the transfer window as Antonio Conte prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next month.
The Blues have signed four players so far this summer after having tied up deals to land Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.
