Chelsea confident of completing £35m deal to sign top 23-year-old – report
Chelsea are confident that they will be able to seal a deal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal, say reports
Chelsea are growing increasingly confident that they will be able to complete a deal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal this summer in a £35m deal, according to reports in the British media.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the Blues are feeling confident that they will be able to agree a deal with their London rivals to seal the signature of the England midfielder.
The same report says that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has ruled out selling both Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud in the summer transfer window, but is yet to make the same assurances about Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The story, however, does state that no fee has yet been agreed between the two clubs, although negotiations are said to be “ongoing”.
The article also says that Wenger would ideally like to keep hold of Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has less than one year left on his current contract with the Gunners.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings before the close of the summer transfer window at the end of the month.
The Blues have brought in Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata so far this summer.
