Chelsea want to sign 30-year-old midfielder in £25m deal before deadline – report
Chelsea are aiming to complete a deal to sign Antonio Candreva from Inter Milan before deadline day, say reports
Chelsea are looking to complete a deal to sign Inter Milan midfielder Antonio Candreva before transfer deadline day, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Antonio Conte has given the “green light” for the Blues to push through a deal to bring the 30-year-old to Stamford Bridge.
The same story says that Inter Milan are ready to sell Candreva for around £25m and that the player himself is keen on a move to Chelsea to link up with Conte.
The article also reports that Chelsea are “desperate” to add a new midfielder to their squad, having already made a £15m move to sign Danny Drinkwater from Leicester City.
Conte knows Candreva well, having coached the midfielder during his time in charge of Italy’s national team.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for a number of signings before deadline day as Conte looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging for trophies on four fronts.
The west London side have so far signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata so far this summer, but it looks as if there could be further arrivals at Stamford Bridge before deadline day.
