Jamie Carragher tells Chelsea to make two signings before deadline day
Jamie Carragher delivers his verdict on Chelsea's remaining summer transfer business
Jamie Carragher believes that Chelsea need to make at least two more signings before transfer deadline day.
The Blues endured a disastrous start to their Premier League title defence on Saturday when they were beaten 3-2 by Burnley in front of their home fans at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have already signed four players so far this summer but the west London side continue to be linked with a number of other names.
The west London side have wrapped up deals for Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata so far this summer.
However, Liverpool legend Carragher feels that it is crucial for Chelsea to bring in further reinforcements before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, former England star Carragher said: “They’ve got two games between now and the transfer window shutting.
“Antonio Conte needs to get two players in – they need strengthening, especially in the wing-back positions.
“They need to stop this tidal wave of negativity. The way Conte is speaking to the press you know something isn’t right. That’s got to stop.”
Chelsea must now dust themselves down as they prepare for their Premier League trip to Wembley to take on Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues won the title at a canter last season but will now also have to compete in the Champions League after missing out on a place in Europe last term.
