Chelsea are in talks with Arsenal about the possibility of signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, say reports
Chelsea are in talks with Arsenal about the possibility of signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the Blues are still in negotiations with the north London side despite Arsene Wenger’s insistence that the midfielder will not be sold this summer.
The same story says that Chelsea are “confident” that they will be able to conclude a deal to land the 24-year-old midfielder, whose current Arsenal contract is set to expire next summer.
The article also says that talks with Arsenal about extending his current deal have “stalled”.
Oxlade-Chamberlain featured from the start as Arsenal secured a thrilling 4-3 win over Leicester City in their Premier League opener at The Emirates last Friday.
The England international will be hoping to start once again when Arsenal take on Stoke City in their next Premier League game at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday evening.
Chelsea have signed four players so far this summer, after having concluded deals for Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.
The Blues are set to take on London rivals Tottenham at Wembley in their next Premier League game on Sunday afternoon as they look to bounce back from their shock 3-2 loss to Burnley last weekend.
