Jamie Carragher sends ominous message to Chelsea fans about Antonio Conte
Jamie Carragher predicts that Antonio Conte will not be in charge at Chelsea in one year's time
Antonio Conte won’t be at Chelsea this time next year, according to Jamie Carragher.
The Italian boss is currently gearing up for his second season in charge at the west London club after he was brought in as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor last summer.
Conte enjoyed a sparkling debut campaign in England as he led Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
The former Juventus boss is now preparing his team for their Premier League title defence, with the Blues set to take on Burnley in their season opener this weekend.
However, Carragher feels that there are rumblings behind the scenes suggesting that Conte is not happy at Stamford Bridge following Chelsea’s actions in the summer transfer window.
Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports on Monday night, Carragher said: “I’d be very surprised if I’m sitting here in 12 months’ time and he’s the Chelsea manager.
“I think he’s the type of manager who won’t accept the involvement from people above, especially on the back of winning the title.
“He’s not going to go quietly and it’s not great for the club when the manager is coming out and speaking the way he is.”
Chelsea lost their opening game of the season on Sunday when they were beaten by Arsenal on penalties in the Community Shield at Wembley.
It marked the second time in a row that the west London side have lost to Arsenal at Wembley after the Gunners triumphed in the FA Cup final back in May as well.
