Chelsea tipped to make late signings before deadline
Chelsea are bound to make a number of signings before deadline day, according to Mark Lawrenson
Chelsea are “bound to” make a number of new signings before Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to Mark Lawrenson and Dion Dublin.
The Blues have been linked with a whole host of players throughout the summer transfer window, but they have only so far brought in four new faces, after tying up deals for Willy Caballero, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Alvaro Morata.
Having lost the likes of John Terry, Nathan Ake and Nemanja Matic so far this summer, Antonio Conte will be keen to try and bring in some more players before the close of the transfer deadline, especially we Champions League football looming next month.
And both Lawrenson and Dublin feel that the Blues are likely to strengthen before Thursday night’s transfer deadline.
Asked if Chelsea are likely to bring in any more players this summer, Lawrenson told BBC Sport’s Football Focus: “Bound to.”
And Dublin added: “I’d be surprised if we don’t see at least one, maybe even two. He’s probably got his eyes on a couple.
“They will do because Chelsea want it again, Chelsea want it again definitely.”
Chelsea will take on Roma, Atletico Madrid and Qarabag in the group stage of the Champions League after the draw was made in Monaco last week.
The Blues are gearing up for a return to Europe’s elite club competition after they missed out on European competition altogether last term.
