Chelsea ready to make £20m bid to land fifth summer signing – report
Chelsea are getting ready to try and tempt Leicester City into selling Danny Drinkwater this week, say reports
Chelsea are getting ready to try and “tempt” Leicester into selling Danny Drinkwater with a £20m bid this week, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Blues are preparing to make an official move to try and land the 27-year-old, who is said to be “open” to a transfer to Stamford Bridge.
However, the same story says that Chelsea may struggle to convince Leicester to sell Drinkwater to them, because the Foxes value the midfielder at around £30m.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for more signings before the close of the summer transfer window at the end of the month.
The west London side have signed four players so far this summer, after having wrapped up deals to land Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
However, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is thought to be keen to add some further depth to his squad as he prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next month.
Chelsea endured a miserable start to their Premier League season on Saturday when they were beaten 3-2 by Burnley at Stamford Bridge in the upset of the opening weekend.
