The Blues were the Premier League’s top performing team last term as they lifted the trophy after winning a record 30 games on their way to the title.
Chelsea, however, did not have the distraction of European football last term as they were able to focus solely on domestic affairs.
They must prepare for a return to the Champions League this season as they look to challenge for trophies on four fronts next term.
And Conte has warned his players that they are going to face a seriously tough task in trying to retain their title this season.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Burnley on Saturday, Conte said: “There are so many top teams, they have strengthened their squads with lots of new players.
“It’s going to be harder than last year – we are going to have to fight as hard or even harder than last year to compete for the title again.”
Chelsea will learn their opponents for the group stage of the Champions League when the draw is made later this month.
The west London side were beaten by Arsenal on penalties in the Community Shield at Wembley last weekend.
