Chelsea on the verge of completing fifth summer signing – report
Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Fernando Llorente from Swansea, according to reports in Spain
Chelsea are on the brink of concluding a deal to sign Fernando Llorente from Swansea City, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish newspaper AS, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Blues are closing in on a deal to bring the 32-year-old striker to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea’s fifth signing of the summer.
The same report says that Swansea value Llorente at around £30m but that the Blues are hoping to conclude a transfer for around half of that asking price.
Llorente has been touted as a target for Chelsea throughout the summer as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his attacking options at Stamford Bridge.
The pair know each other well, having worked together during their time at Juventus.
Should Llorente complete a transfer to Chelsea before Thursday’s 23:00 BST deadline, he would become the west London side’s fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.
Chelsea won their first Premier League home game of the season last weekend when they secured a 2-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are looking to retain their Premier League title and also challenge for the Champions League in Conte’s second campaign in charge.
