Chelsea poised to make a further two new signings – report
Chelsea want to sign both Virgil van Dijk and Serge Aurier this summer, according to reports
Chelsea are targeting the signings of Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain and Virgil van Dijk from Southampton this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the west London side are keen to make at least three more signings before the end of the summer transfer window as Antonio Conte prepares for his second season at the club.
The same story says that Chelsea are ready to rival Manchester United in the race to sign defender Aurier from PSG, and that they are also prepared to make a bid for Saints centre-half Van Dijk.
It has been something of a frustrating summer for Conte, with the Blues having only managed to bring in four players so far, despite a host of stars leaving the club.
The same article states that Conte “ideally” wants to sign two more wing-backs this summer as he prepares his team for their title defence and also a return to the Champions League.
The story also says that Conte picked Van Dijk as Chelsea’s top defensive target at the end of last season but the Blues have not yet been able to sign the 26-year-old Dutchman.
It is also claimed that both Chelsea and Manchester United are now waiting to see whether PSG star Aurier wins his appeal against his conviction for assaulting a police officer last year.
Chelsea take on Burnley in their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
