Chelsea ‘rush’ deal to sign 24-year-old amid Liverpool interest – report
Chelsea are aiming to rush through a deal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal amid interest from Liverpool, say reports
Chelsea are trying to rush through a deal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal amid reported interest from Liverpool in the midfielder, according to reports in the British media.
The Evening Standard is reporting that Chelsea are looking to step up their efforts to complete a deal for the 24-year-old midfielder because the Reds are still hoping to hijack the proposed transfer.
The 24-year-old is thought to be on his way out of Arsenal before the transfer window closes on Thursday and the player is said to have rejected a contract worth around £150,000 at The Emirates, according to the report.
The same story says that Chelsea are prepared to at least match those wages as they look to try to clinch a deal for the England midfielder before the transfer window closes at 23:00 BST on Thursday.
The article claims that Chelsea are “wary” that Liverpool could return with an offer for Oxlade-Chamberlain if the Reds give up in their pursuit of Thomas Lemar from Monaco.
It remains to be seen which club Oxlade-Chamberlain will belong to on Friday, but it seems as though he is going to leave Arsenal this summer, if the widespread reports are to believed this week.
