Nemanja Matic says taking Chelsea’s title is his aim with Man United
Nemanja Matic has his sights firmly set on helping Manchester United take the title from Chelsea this season
Nemanja Matic has underlined his desire to help Manchester United win the Premier League title this season following his transfer to Chelsea.
The Serbian midfielder completed a controversial switch to Old Trafford from the Blues last week as Jose Mourinho moved to bolster his midfield options ahead of the new season.
Chelsea’s decision to sell Matic to a direct Premier League rival has raised some eyebrows, with the defensive midfielder having played a key role in helping the Blues win the Premier League title last term.
However, the 29-year-old will now be relishing working under Jose Mourinho once again as the Portuguese coach looks to bring the Premier League title to Old Trafford for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement back in 2013.
And Matic has outlined the Premier League title as his main aim with Manchester United this season.
Matic is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard: “We have to rest well because we have a very important game on Sunday against West Ham.
“It’s the start of the Premier League and it’s very important for us. As you know the Premier League is the main target.
“There is a lot of games, it’s a long season but I expect us to do well.”
The Red Devils are currently preparing for their Premier League opener against West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United will be hoping to drastically improve their Premier League form this term after they finished in sixth place last season.
