Chelsea still interested in signing 23-year-old star from direct rivals – report
Chelsea are interested in signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal this summer, say reports
Chelsea remain interested in signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is claiming that the west London side are considering a swoop for the midfielder with a view to playing him at right wing-back next season.
The move would be a controversial one, given that the 23-year-old midfielder currently plays for Chelsea’s direct rivals Arsenal.
However, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future at Arsenal has been a source of speculation in recent weeks because he has only one year left on his current contract and has not yet signed a new deal.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Antonio Conte prepares for his second season at the club.
However, the Blues have so far only brought in Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.
Chelsea are gearing up for a return to the Champions League next season after their title triumph last term, while Arsenal will have to make do with Europa League football after their fifth-placed finish.
