Chelsea sent blunt warning ahead of crunch Tottenham clash
Chelsea must step their game up quickly or risk falling further behind, warns Pat Nevin
Pat Nevin has warned Chelsea that they cannot afford to slip up against Tottenham in their next Premier League game on Sunday.
The Blues suffered a disastrous start to the season when they were beaten 3-2 by Burnley at Stamford Bridge in their opening game last weekend.
Chelsea must now dust themselves down as they prepare for their crunch clash against Spurs at Wembley in their next top flight game this weekend.
And Nevin has warned Antonio Conte’s men that they must get their act together quickly if they are to keep themselves in the title race.
Speaking on Irish radio station Newstalk, Nevin said: “Chelsea have one hard programme coming up. They’ve got one hell of schedule.
“They better sort themselves out quickly, or the other teams will be too far ahead.”
After their trip to Tottenham, Chelsea will take on Everton at home, Leicester City away, Arsenal at home, Stoke City away and Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea, who won the Premier League in style last term, have signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata so far this summer.
The Blues continue to be linked with a host of other players as Conte looks to bolster his squad ahead of the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.
Chelsea are preparing for a return to the Champions League this season.
